Kirkwall Baptist Church

In addition to Sunday Services and midweek Small Groups, there are groups that meet weekly or occasionally. All the social activities depend on the level of demand and the availability of volunteers to organise them and onet group that meets weekly is Get Together (for women). The weekly groups for young folk are given under the Youth menu tab.

As a spin-off from the Encouraging Women Conferences, organised jointly by ladies from the Kirkwall, Stromness and Westray Baptist Churches, many women from KBC socialise via the Encouraging Women Facebook page.

Occasionally, a Men's Breakfast may be organised on a Saturday morning with KBC menfolk asked to bring along male guests to enjoy a meal and chat.

There is often little time after Morning Service for folk to chat so, from time to time, a soup lunch is held in church after a service and anyone who happens to be at the service is welcome to stay behind for the lunch. There is nothing formal about the occasion, just a chance to chat and share a light snack.

For many folk in Orkney, Hogmanay turns into a heavy drinking session but as an alternative to that KBC holds an alcohol-free and family-friendly Hogmanay Ceilidh followed by a watchnight service. Ceilidhs may be held at other times too to celebrate special occasions. KBC folk always seem to rise to the challenge of producing food for these events.
