SOCIAL EVENTS

Social Events

In addition to Sunday Services and midweek Small Groups, there are groups that meet weekly or occasionally. All the social activities depend on the level of demand and the availability of volunteers to organise them. The weekly groups for young folk are given under Children and Youth Groups.

As a spin-off from Encouraging Women Conferences, organised jointly by ladies from the Kirkwall, Stromness and Westray Baptist Churches, many women from KBC socialise and pray for one another via a Facebook Group. If you connected with any of the members through the churches and would like to join, please speak to Jan Gordon at the church.

Men’s Events are arranged regularly by one of our Deacons, Angus Mackay. Look out for announcements at church and via email.

Recently tea & coffee have been served before our morning services and from time to time, a soup lunch is held in church after a service and anyone who happens to be at the service is welcome to stay behind for the lunch. There is nothing formal about the occasion, just a chance to chat and share a light snack.

For many folk in Orkney, Hogmanay turns into a heavy drinking session but as an alternative to that KBC holds an alcohol-free and family-friendly Hogmanay Ceilidh. Ceilidhs may be held at other times too to celebrate special occasions. KBC folk always seem to rise to the challenge of producing food for these events.
